Identity, OS & Datacenter Engineer (M/F)

Context
As part of the FY27 transformation of Scalian Group's IT Infrastructure operating model, we are looking for an Identity, OS & Datacenter Engineer within the Platforms & Cloud engineering domain. The role defines and engineers secure, standardised foundations for operating systems, directory infrastructure, virtualisation, compute and storage across an international, multi-site environment. The position focuses on technical standards, lifecycle evolution and reliable handover to operations, while working closely with the Modern Workplace & Identity, Cybersecurity and Cloud teams.
Reporting Line
Reporting to the Platforms & Cloud Lead, you will join the Engineering stream within the Group IT Infrastructure organisation.
Main Responsibilities

• Define and maintain Windows Server and Linux reference builds, configuration standards and lifecycle roadmaps

• Engineer directory infrastructure and core identity-adjacent services, including Active Directory, GPO, DNS and DHCP

• Design and evolve datacenter platforms covering virtualisation, compute, storage and supporting infrastructure

• Establish hardening, patching, upgrade, migration, capacity and obsolescence standards

• Produce reusable engineering patterns, build documentation, decision records and acceptance criteria

• Lead technical design and implementation activities for infrastructure upgrades and migrations

• Define monitoring, backup, recovery, performance and resilience requirements for engineered platforms

• Ensure solutions are supportable and complete structured handovers to operations teams • Contribute to infrastructure integration activities for new entities and sites

• Provide Level 3 expertise for complex platform issues and recurring technical problems
Security, Governance and Continuous Improvement
• Embed security-by-design and Group hardening requirements into operating-system and datacenter standards

• Work with Cybersecurity to remediate vulnerabilities and reduce technical debt and unsupported components • Maintain auditable engineering documentation and contribute to ISO 27001 controls and evidence

• Standardise infrastructure patterns and automate build, validation and compliance activities where relevant

• Review platform capacity, performance, availability and obsolescence risks and define remediation plans

• Drive continuous improvement through root-cause analysis, lessons learned and technology watch

Technical Environment

• Operating systems: Windows Server and Linux

• Directory and core services: Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP and certificate-related services

• Virtualisation and datacenter: VMware vSphere / vCenter / VxRail, compute and datacenter infrastructure

• Storage and protection: SAN / NAS, NetApp, backup and recovery platforms

• Engineering: architecture patterns, reference builds, hardening baselines, lifecycle and capacity planning

• Automation: PowerShell, Ansible, Git and infrastructure validation scripts

• Hybrid services: Microsoft Azure, OVH and connectivity with on-premises platforms

• Operations integration: monitoring, logging, patching, CMDB, documentation and acceptance processes

Candidate Profile
You hold at least a two-year higher education qualification in IT and have strong engineering experience across enterprise systems and datacenter infrastructure in a multi-site environment. You have practical expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualisation, compute and storage, together with a sound understanding of Linux and hybrid infrastructure. You are comfortable producing technical designs and standards, leading migrations and upgrades, and handing reliable solutions over to operations. Experience with hardening, capacity
planning, automation, backup and recovery, infrastructure lifecycle management or ISO 27001 environments would be an advantage. This position is suited to an engineering-oriented professional who combines technical depth, standardisation and operational awareness.
